LA Girls Weekend
A couple weeks ago, my two best friends and their sisters flew down to visit me in LA and it was a jam-packed 48 hours of FUN! Take a look at the places we visited during their time here!
DAY 1
We started off the day by having brunch at Urth CaffΓ© on Melrose Ave. It's a popular spot known for it's farm to table fresh ingredients and matcha lattes. I've been wanting to try this spot for a while since I've see it all over insta and it did not disappoint! There's something for everyone, whether it's salty or sweet, light or filling. This place was the perfect spot to start off our day!
After brunch, we walked over to Alfred Tea Room, which is also on Melrose Ave (Melrose Ave is a street with lots of shops, restaurants, and cafΓ©s, so if you have time, enjoy exploring!). Alfred's is a cute pink shop that serves various types of tea from regular tea to bubble milk tea. My favorite part about the shop is all the cute puns/sayings posted around the shop like "I Love You So Matcha", "Can't We All Just Get Oolong", & "Tea Yes, You Maybe". If you're more of a coffee person, check out Alfred Coffee, which has more of a rustic vibe to it.
Next on our list was the LACMA (Los Angeles County of Modern Art). We got to see the infamous light poles and Michael Heizer's Giant Rock. From there, we walked over to the Grove to see the Farmer's Market and shop around.
After a long day of walking, we had to satisfy our sweet tooth, so we headed to KTown! We first went to Sul & Beans, a Korean dessert shop known for it's shaved ice. We got black sesame and it was absolutely delicious; it would just melt in your mouth, bursting with flavor. Right next door was Somi Somi, an ice cream shop, popular on Instagram for its' fish shaped ice cream cone. Lastly, we stopped at Chocolate Chair, located in the same Madang Plaza, for nitrogen ice cream. It was not what I expected at all. It had the same taste and texture as cereal! Nitrogen ice cream is fun to eat and is something that everyone should try once, but it's not something I'll have again.
To celebrate all the August birthdays, we went to Jimmy's Famous American Tavern for dinner. It's a cute hip restaurant conveniently located by Santa Monica Pier. Once we finished walking around the pier, we had to end the night by stopping by Jeni's Ice Cream in Venice.
DAY 2
Being in SoCal, we had to have a beach day! We decided to go to Manhattan Beach and stopped by Love & Salt for brunch. Love & Salt is a contemporary Italian restaurant and we ordered: the grape white hope (drink), a clockwork orange(drink), wood oven baked eggs, bucatini pasta, ricotta pancakes, and warm Italian nutella doughnuts. Their rich flavors combined with the chic atmosphere makes this the perfect brunch spot!
I had such an amazing time exploring LA with some of my best friends! Thanks again for flying down and visiting me :)
If you have any questions about any of the places I went to or recommendations on where I should go to next, feel free to leave them in the comments!
